About Alva

Alva was founded to meet the growing global energy demand with renewable technologies. We develop electric generators for the production of clean energy and electric motors to convert this energy to motion. Believing that technological advancements and prosperity can in fact be both green and sustainable, we envision a world run solely on renewable, electric energy.

Founded in 2016, Alva has grown to more than twenty people with reliable funding and an ingenious and patented production technology with proven superiority over conventional alternatives. FiberPrinting™ enables the production of low-weight, high-efficiency electric motors and generators for a wide range of applications, reflecting our true purpose. We do not just enhance electric motors and generators. We enhance electric cars, ships and airplanes, UAVs, medical equipment, robots, satellites and so much more. We enhance the world.

We are currently engaged in several international long-term projects for the electrification of electric aircraft, ground vehicles, and marine vehicles and are now commercializing our products in the rapidly growing UAV-market. We are therefore expanding our team to include several new positions, including a Mechatronics/Automation Engineer.

Position

We are searching for a mechatronics engineer that will join our multi-skilled production development team. The purpose of the team is to develop and automate Alva's proprietary production method, and core technology, FiberPrinting™ and support the product development team to increase the manufacturing readiness level of our products.

FiberPrinting is an additive process for manufacturing high-performance electric motors and generators. You will work to fully automize the FiberPrinting process and increase the production rate to allow for mass-production. You will also develop customized FiberPrinters™ for specific customer projects.

The type of work that the team performs is highly diverse. Included is rapid-prototyping, machine building, automation, process development, development of quality-control processes and more. The team is also responsible for setting up operational production lines for production of Alva's products.

You will be a part of the team that enables Alva to produce best-in-class products, based on FiberPrinting, for multiple exciting applications such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Urban Air Mobility, Ground Vehicles, and Unmanned Underwater Vehicles.

    • Concept generation & selection
    • Mechanical design
    • Selection of off-the-shelf automation components
    • Electrical installation
    • PLC programming
    • Testing & commissioning of automated production equipment

Requirements

You should have a broad knowledge of machine mechanisms and principles, and experience of development of automated manufacturing equipment from a concept stage to commissioning into a production line. Preferably within the fields of textile manufacturing (weaving, braiding, spinning etc.), wire manufacturing or winding processes of stators, composites, or other manufacturing.
  • M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Mechanical/Mechatronics engineering
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience. Preferably more than 5 years.
